Breast Cancer Fund
Since introducing LUNA® Whole Nutrition for Women™ in 1999, Clif Bar & Co. has donated nearly $2 million in cash, product, fundraising programs and events, and countless volunteer hours to the Breast Cancer Fund (BCF). In 2007 alone, Clif Bar & Co. donated $285,000 in unrestricted cash to the organization, and an additional $120,000 was generated from the Team LUNA Chix and LUNAFEST fundraising programs.
A Perfect Partnership
BCF and LUNA® are a match on many levels. In addition to being linked by their focus on women's well being, both organizations share the belief that what we put on and in our bodies matters. LUNA® works towards this by creating healthy, all-natural, whole nutrition products for women. BCF works towards this through their public education, policy initiatives, grassroots mobilization, advocacy, and outdoor challenges. Together we bring women together, facilitate healthy lifestyles and, ideally, provide valuable takeaways in the form of relationships, education, and nutrition.
Why Breast Cancer Prevention?
We know that more than 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. We also know...that less than 10% of breast cancer cases are caused by genetic factors. Another 30-40 % of cases are linked to lifestyle risk factors like diet, hormone replacement, reproductive history, etc. So, more than 50% of all breast cancer cases remained unexplained by traditional risk factors. Meanwhile, a growing body of scientific evidence links environmental risk to breast cancer - and that is where BCF is focused.
Breast Cancer Fund's Mission
In response to the public health crisis of breast cancer, the Breast Cancer Fund identifies - and advocates for elimination of - the environmental and other preventable causes of the disease. BCF is the only national breast cancer organization that has chosen to focus solely on prevention (not simply early detection), and has established itself as a leader within the growing environmental health movement. This isn't detection... it's prevention. We don't want women to get breast cancer in the first place. Please learn more at www.breastcancerfund.org.

Campaign For Safe Cosmetics
Did you know that only 11 percent of all personal care products are tested for safety, and that many contain carcinogens and other toxic chemicals?
The FDA has no authority to regulate the personal care products you use every day. That's where the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics comes in.
The Breast Cancer Fund is a founding member and leading partner in the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition working to protect your health by calling for the elimination of chemicals used in the cosmetics industry linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems.
