Running Clinic Review
8/14/07

I think this may have been one of our best clinics yet! The clinic was taught by Bo McNair, who has done many fabulous things like coach national caliber high school sprinters, worked at the Olympic Training Center, and even changed the running form and speed of LUNA Chix athletes Teresa Nelson, Sue Rogers, Jessi Nemens and LaVonne Finnerud! :)

We started out the clinic with Bo talking about proper running form, including body position, foot placement and arm swing. And learning, biomechanically, why these are important for both speed and to prevent injury. Then he watched each person run and told them a couple of things that were "opportunities for improvement." Then we went into drills to retrain our brains into learning what the proper foot strike feels like, how to push off, and how to hold our arms. We finished by learning and practicing drills that will strengthen our legs, glutes and core, which will enable us to maintain proper running form.

It was a great clinic and we all want a follow-up one!
